The Cherry barb is easy to care for, and goes well with most community fish of similar size.
Endemic to Sri Lanka it is found mainly in heavily shaded streams preferring shallow, slow-flowing water with a substrate of silt and leaf debris.
Omnivorous, the cherry barb is easy to feed and readily takes most aquarium food.
